Overwolf, a software platform that helps developers create extensions for video games, and Playwire, the leading esports advertiser and revenue amplification company, have teamed up with Alienware to bring the 2020 Alienware Games.
The games will commence on July 17th and will conclude on September 11th. Participants can rise through the rankings by scoring points across multiple games including Fortnite, and the top 250 players on the leaderboard for each supported game will be awarded with in-game currency each week with further in-game currency being raffled off randomly every week. The leaderboard will reset each week of the games in order to provide gamers with a better chance of winning prize money or a high-end Alienware gaming computer.
Top pro players from some of the largest esports organizations will be participating in the 2020 Alienware Games including 72hrs from Team Liquid, and ProxyFox from Misfit’s. Steve Aoki, a DJ, record producer, and music executive who participated in the Fortnite Party Royale premiere, will be showing his support for the competition along with American actor Jerry Ferrara.
Once the games have concluded, the top 16 players overall will receive the an Alienware Aurora R9 gaming rig and an additional eight players computers will be raffled off randomly to participants.
In order to participate, you’ll need to download the official 2020 Alienware Games app from the Overwolf store. The app will track in-game events and award participants with points for eliminations, assists, wins and more. Players can earn points in League of Legends, Fortnite, Valorant, and CS:GO on PC(no other gaming platforms are eligible).
In Fortnite, players can earn 50 points for winning a game, 1 point for simply playing a game, 25 points for finishing in the top 10, and 2 points for each opponent that they eliminate. For the full list of ways to earn points in-game visit the breakdown here.
