The Fortnite Summer Smash Cup is taking place at the Australian Open. Take a look at who is participating along with some free cosmetic rewards.
Epic Games has partnered with the Australian Open for the second straight year to bring us the Summer Smash Cup 2020 and charity event on February 1 and 2.
We have news of the teams participating in the charity event, some of the solo competitors in the Summer Smash Cup, and a free skin and pickaxe for those who participate.
Confirmed teams and players
As of now, there are four confirmed Trios teams for the Summer Smash event, featuring some of the biggest Australian names in Fortnite.
The following teams will compete for their share of $100,000 in charity money when the charity event goes live on February 1:
- Mitch Robinson + Mau + Slaya
- Dave Hughes + LazarBeam + Rel
- Reuben Styles + Muselk + x2TwinsJordan
- Enschway + Lachlan + MrFreshAsian
The solo competition will take place on February 2, with a $400,000 prize pool and some of the best players in the world. Benjyfishy, Mitr0, EpikWhale, Aqua, Nyhrox, and many others – including open qualifiers – will compete for their share of the prize pool
Free rewards
This News Feed post is likely from an Australian player. You can’t see this post if you play in NA or EU, but you can if you switch your region to OCE.
What does this mean? Well, you’ll have to participate in the Summer Smash Cup to gain access to the rewards. It’s unclear whether the Cup is a LAN event or an online competition, but some of the big names like Benjyfishy are traveling to Australia to compete.
If this is an online qualifier, then anyone with 2FA will be able to switch their matchmaking region to OCE and try their hand at a 200+ ping performance.
Some players on the r/FortniteBR subreddit are theorizing that there may be a point threshold to hit as well. Hopefully, we’ll get some more information before the event.
